Headteacher and Music Director


Our music director and head teacher, Babak kazemi is a conductor, composer and pianist with more than a decade of experience in teaching music to all ages and levels. Babak has a professional portfolio of conducting various orchestras in the UK and around the world. He also has an extended composition portfolio of pieces for symphony orchestra, choirs, piano and chamber ensembles.

Babak started to learn piano at the age of 9 and have taught by various virtuoso pianists until he started his higher education at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2011. Alongside that he attended piano and composition masterclasses at Royal College of Music with tutors such as Mr Niel Immelman and Mr Jonathan Cole. Babak then joined Conducting masterclasses with Maestro Djean Savic and Maestro Alexander Polyanichko.

Mr Kazemi then worked shortly as assistant conductor before starting his conducting career. He toured in Europe conducting various orchestras namely New Europe Symphony Orchestra, State Hermitage Symphony Orchestra, Russe Philharmonic Orchestra, Pazarjick Philharmonic Orchestra and Saint-Petersburg Radio Orchestra. In 2018-19 season Mr Kazemi conducted his debut concert with Tehran Symphony Orchestra as well as many more. Babak also studied conducting with Maestro Michael Seal who is Associated Conductor of CBSO, one of the world's top ten orchestras.

Maestro Kazemi was also engaged in Opera and ballet production as music director. In 2014 Babak was appointed as Music Director of Light of Music Symphony Orchestra. During his time with the company, he made significant improvements in the structure and foundation of this music group. In a few years Babak Kazemi turned a small music group into a full symphony orchestra with a repertoire of contemporary music composed by himself.

Alongside professional music making, Maestro Kazemi has been teaching music for more than a decade. As a piano teacher he is patient and encouraging. Babak’s musical background and significant experience as a professional musician enables him to devise the lessons to fit the student’s needs in order to achieve the highest learning outcomes. Throughout his piano teaching career, Babak has helped many students to fulfil their potentials in playing piano and found their individual pathway in music making.

We highly recommend all our students to take part in piano exams. We teach piano exam boards that are regulated by Ofqual. At London Piano Tutors our pupils work on ABRSM (Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music), Trinity College London or London College of Music exam boards.

We see piano exams as a performance opportunities that can give the pupil a boast in their confidence. In the piano exams the student’s musicality, listening skills and sight reading abilities will be put into a test by an external examiner. Safeguarding Trainings and Checks

At London Piano Tutors we thrive to provide the safest and most engaging music educational environment for our pupils. We work hard to ensure all of our safeguarding trainings are up to date and fully compliant with health and safety requirements. All our teachers have taken child protection training courses and have gone through comprehensive checks including DBS checks formerly known as disclosure and barring service. We regularly update these trainings to ensure the highest standards of music education service among our piano teachers in London.

We believe all piano teachers must have music education up to university level in order to be able to teach the instrument at the levels and standards that we require. Our teachers go through further checks on their musical competency and piano pedagogy techniques as well as further training recommended by the Musician's Union. We value our customer's trust and work hard to ensure their satisfaction.
